The Missing Ontological Foundation
Technological progress has expanded humanity’s power without an equal growth in ontological understanding. In some respects, our understanding of existence, consciousness, purpose, and our place within reality has become narrower, even as scientific knowledge and technical capabilities have advanced.
Without an ontological foundation, civilization continues to seek coherence and meaning through the structures available to it: consumption, control, competition, acceleration, status, and constant stimulation. These forces may increase capability and activity, but they cannot resolve existential emptiness or provide a shared direction for civilization.
Artificial intelligence now makes this bottleneck critical. If humanity transfers its ontological blindness into increasingly powerful AI systems, it will not resolve civilization’s fragmentation – t may multiply it.
Ontaion works to reorient human and artificial intelligence through an integrated ontological framework for addressing humanity’s most fundamental questions.
